Early guilty plea discounts on sentencing are now capped. The maximum discount will depend on how early the guilty plea is made and ranges from 5% to 25%.

The Sentencing (Reinstating Three Strikes) Amendment Act 2024 has effect from 17 June 2025. In summary, the first strike is a normal sentence with a warning. The second strike is a normal sentence with no parole and a further warning. The third strike is a maximum sentence with no parole.
